1947 Latour A Pomerol

Now this lived up to the hype, and then some. I have velvet curtains all around me. This is how Bordeaux should taste. Utterly flawless, with character, a fickle, changing and palate staining full-bodied huge, long, youthful finish. There's expensive cigar box, and some very complex flavors, but also quite primary stewed plums. Very dark. Much darker in fact than the '82 Palmer in the next glass. Amazing that this 60 year old wine still seems like an infant, and is not fully mature. This is the Bordeaux of my life. It is incredibly expensive (more than $5000 per bottle at auction), but if you are ever near this wine, make friends with its owner and take a sip. Practically life changing.
