1993 Adelsheim Elizabeth's Reserve
Written By: Michael Zimberg on Tuesday, March 18, 2008
I've enjoyed many versions of Lizzie's reserve in the past. This bottle is a disappointment however. It appears to be a perfectly aged bottle, with great fill and a near ideal cork (no mold, 3/4 wine stains). It is lightly colored, light bodied, acidic, and tastes mostly like wet cardboard. There's a stewed tomato component behind everything else. Since I didn't try this wine it its youth, not sure if it just isn't great wine. I paid $25 on winebid.

Do you eat any of these with food (if so, could you note that as it can affect a rating).Cheers Mikey.

Ouch, tough break. I wonder if it was the bottle or just a bad vintage?

Michael Zimberg has intuition when it comes to wine. Somehow, some way, he is able to spot the best deals and the best food and wine pairings. Mikey's wife, Jill, attributes it to a naturally well-defined sense of taste and smell, combined with a healthy dose of experience. Whatever it is, his reviews shouldn't be missed.

Good suggestion JS12. I will keep it in mind.pandaa58 I wonder the same thing. The bottle certainly was not corked, but I'd like to try another '93 sometime.
