1996 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill

Drank from a magnum. Pale clear golden with a thin thread of composed bubbles. This is stunning, long, and strong, with lemons, well balanced acids, brioche, toast and hazelnuts. Just great and very long. This cuvee is often oustanding. My favorite champagne is the '75 Sir Winston Churchill, tasted from a magnum. 1996 is a really outstanding vintage in Champagne. The Dom Perignon is outrageous, and this is probably better. I'd love to try them side by side. Retail, about $400 in this format.
