2002 Blankiet Estate Merlot Paradise Hills Vineyard

Big merlot beast. It drinks more like a shiraz, with concentrated, viscus spicy dark fruits, massive tannins, and a very long finish. It does have some Bordeaux-like features of cigar box on the nose, and a leathery, albeit very smooth mouth feel. It is brimming with personality and charm. There's no subtlety, but everything is in its correct place, and it fits. We drank this with a Whole Foods steak. I found this for $65 on winebid. Even though this is a lot of money, this wine exudes class. It is worth it. Maybe I am just a sucker for Helen Turley's wine.
