2003 Rochioli River Block Chardonnay
Written By: Michael Zimberg on Wednesday, September 24, 2008
This is a big, burly monster of a chardonnay. Smells like lemon custard pie. The palate is tangy viscus caramel and lemon. It is sweet and very smooth with an outstanding, clinging finish. Lots of fireworks here. It loses half a grade for a slightly alcoholic finish, and for a lack ofsubtly. Retail $50.

Michael Zimberg has intuition when it comes to wine. Somehow, some way, he is able to spot the best deals and the best food and wine pairings. Mikey's wife, Jill, attributes it to a naturally well-defined sense of taste and smell, combined with a healthy dose of experience. Whatever it is, his reviews shouldn't be missed.
