2003 Williams Selyem Feeney Vineyard Zinfandel
Written By: Michael Zimberg on Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Oh my, lives up to the hype (Tanzer 95+, Parker 96). Perfectly integrated zinfandel. There's huge alcohol (15.8%) but its totally undetectable under a mass of candied cherry, slight oak, moderate tannins, and exquisite balance. This has a harmony and poise I've rarely, if ever, had in a zinfandel. This is clearly an all-time great zin. The finish lasts more than a minute. We had this with the leftover chili, and it is a step up from the wonderful Mitolo we drank last night. I got this on winebid for $65. Even though it is a very expensive bottle, it tastes like it could be $200.

Michael Zimberg has intuition when it comes to wine. Somehow, some way, he is able to spot the best deals and the best food and wine pairings. Mikey's wife, Jill, attributes it to a naturally well-defined sense of taste and smell, combined with a healthy dose of experience. Whatever it is, his reviews shouldn't be missed.
