2005 Giacomo Conterno Barbera d'Alba Cascina Francia

Dark luxurious ruby. Rustic nose. Smells like crisp winter evergreen. Acidic and tight. Then after some coaxing, crab apples, lime juice, black truffle, and a nice minerality make up the palate. There's something medicinal and hidden. Very long powerful and full finish. Great pairing with a Patsy's pizza. I'd like to try again with 5 more years of bottle age. May merit a higher score. Retail $40.

Suri - I am not slave to the MAN! :) Just trying to get a better understanding even though I can't even rate on a 100 scale personally with any understanding.

Yea, 40 bones might be a little too high for this bottle. Sounds like a pass-ola.

I personally don't care for any minty or piney accents in my wine. I just think it's a conflict of tastes. This wine would not be for me! Nice review though, thanks for the notes.

Must you be a slave to the numbers of RP apples?

B my friend. Mike - is there a loose translatation you can provide correlating your grades to a number system?

Very official looking Michael! You could be this wine's spokesman (unfortunately it was only a B bottle).
