2005 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules

This wine was a lovely gift from my colleagues Sharon and Helen. Thanks! I'm constantly taking about '05 burgundy, so they chose this gem. It is delicious, charming, silky and floral, with an outstanding inner mouth feel (lavender, minerals) and some very clean spicy cherry with some persistent but smooth tannins. I usually think of Jadot as a mass production house. However, this is a wine of excellent quality, and certainly has a carefully crafted composure. It is impressive on many levels. It can be consumed now, or cellared up to 20 years. Very well done. Retail $50.
