2005 Pax Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard

Huge, juicy, sweet California syrah. Inky purple. Fragrant, nuanced nose. Licorice, crushed red pepper, and dripping, ripe spicy fruits. This is a whole lot of fun. I tried the 2005 Pax Obsidian Syrah a few months ago, and while great, it needs more time than this one. Fans of large scaled wine will enjoy this. It is similar to a stylish Austrailian shiraz, though one with balance. Retail $90.

Yea this one was definitely too big for me. Not quite nuanced enough. But for people who like big hitters, this is a definite A.
