Mourvedre Wines | Prices, Types & Reviews

Though there are some regions of France where Mourvedre is the primary variety used in wines (specifically Provence and Bandol), it is as a blending grape that Mourvedre has made its most important mark. In the southern Rhône, it is one of the major blending varieties, along with Grenache and Syrah. In this capacity, its strong tannins and powerful spice characteristics are perfect for providing a sense of structure to less assertive varieties.
