Rheingau Wines | Prices, Types & Reviews

This central German wine region is just as famous for its wines (in this case, some of the most exciting Rieslings in the world) as it is for the fact that, according the legend, it was here that the benefits of Botrytis Cinerea, or Noble Rot, were discovered. This, of course, paved the way for Germany's most expensive (and arguably finest) wine, Trockenbeerenauslese, which is made from grapes that have been affected by this horrible-looking fungus that does such beautiful things to the flavor of the grapes it attacks. Also, the famous Schloss Johannisberg is found here.
