Rias Baixas Wines | Prices, Types & Reviews
Written By: Brian Freedman on Monday, July 31, 2006 Rias Baixas is virtually synonymous with Albarino, the famous white grape variety of this region. This association of the grape with the region is logical: more than 90% of the grapes planted here are Albarino, whose thick skin is particularly well-suited to this rainy part of Spain. The wines tend to be aromatic and high in alcohol, and though they are a bit more expensive than many Spanish wines, they are absolutely worth it: They are exciting, powerful wines that age well and develop beautifully over time.
