Rueda Wines | Prices, Types & Reviews
Written By: Brian Freedman on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 Rueda is primarily white wine country, and these delicious, fruity wines are as easy to drink and as fun to taste as any in Spain. They are generally made from the local variety Verdejo, though other varieties may be added to the blend. Sauvignon Blanc, that most popular of white grape varieties these days, is also seeing an upsurge in popularity in Rueda, and coming years should see an increase in the number and variety of Sauvignon Blanc-based wines available to the public. Among red wines, Tempranillo is the most important varietal, though even this most Spanish of grapes plays second fiddle to its white cousins.
