Trimbach 2004 Pinot Blanc

Wine of the Week

The aroma of damp stones and minerals is undeniable here—that classic Alsatian austerity that the region’s fans love so much is in abundant evidence. But the beam of lemony acidity cuts right through all that and provides a lift that both brightens the wine up and somehow holds it all together. The palate is all crisp lemon and minerals, which lingers on the medium-length finish. This is a very good wine for this time of year, as its reasonable alcohol level and straightforward flavor profile make this wine both refreshing enough to sip on its own as a pre-meal treat and an excellent pairing partner for all sorts of summertime food.
