1997 Domaine Bizot Echezeaux

I've enjoyed getting to know this wine over the past 2 hours. It started with a disturbing lack of fruit, but lots of promise. The evolution has been from funky mushrooms, to bright, tight, acidic fruits (cranberries, wild raspberries). At this point it has a stunning nose of lavender, dusty forest, and morrells. It is silky, fine, and lithe with surprising grip. Nearly a perfect pairing with a ham from Nieman Ranch. This was a great deal from winebid at $60. It had a $140 price sticker on the bottle. It is certainly of Grand Cru quality. Drink up - this wine is mature.
