2005 Bouchard Beaune Teurons

This wine justifies my extravagant 2005 red burgundy purchases. I don't think it is possible to buy too many. The 2005 Bouchard Beaune Teurons is stunning. My wife thought it was a $350 bottle, when served blind. It delivers all the goods on every level, starting with a mushroom funky nose, to a sweet cola/ earth/ truffle palate, to a long smooth finish. There's something different in each sip. I usually don't like the green, under-ripe qualities of red burgundy at this price level. This one doesn't have any. It beats most $100 burgundies I've tried. At $45 retail, it is worth putting away a few cases. While hard to resist now, it will certainly improve with cellar time. I will try to lay off some for 10 more years. Falls just short of sublime.
