2005 Green Truck Cellars Pinot Noir

Shipper Shock: a lesson about wine shipping. I tried my first bottle of '05 Green Truck the day it arrived via airmail from California to NY. It tasted tired, but left me curious so I withheld my review. I am glad I did. Please do not drink wine for at least 1 week after shipment. It needs time to relax.
Green Truck is a small production, artisanal vineyard (600 cases of the 2005). This is a really lovely wine. Much more Burgundian than the typical California pinot. Conservative style with delicious delicate floral plums and velvety cherries. Excellent balance and staying power in a unique, expressive package. Even some funky mushrooms, like a Nuits St Georges. With local, fresh flounder. Retail $38.
