Canada may seem like a strange place for high-end wine production, but its naturally cooler climate is perfect for the growth of some excellent wine grapes. The Canadian wine industry is centered in Quebec, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and British Columbia. More than anything else, Canada's wine industry is known for its sweet wines, though some excellent dry wines are made, too.
Some Canadian wine producers have attained a fair amount of recognition throughout the world, especially Sumac Ridge, Blue Mountain Vineyards, Cave Springs Cellars, and Inniskillin. There are also many smaller wineries producing excellent wines, and they are worth looking for.
