Clare Valley | Prices, Types & Reviews

Written By: Brian Freedman on Wed, Jan 24th 2007

Despite the warm-ish climate of the Clare Valley, some of Australia's best Riesling is grown here. This, of course, is odd, for Riesling is typically a grape that responds best to cooler climates. But such is the magic of Australia that even the most unlikely grape varieties grow well there. Also of note are the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon of the region, which tend to be dark, rich, and wonderfully mouth-filling. In terms of the general American palate, the wines of the Clare Valley are perfect for both casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike.
