Italian Varietals - Does it ever end

Italy is known to be one of the worlds oldest wine producing regions. It only makes sense that there are so many varietals to choose from. I have seen well over 20 grape varietals listed as being from Italy, but here are just a few of the more popular.
Sangiovese - A red wine producing grape from Tuscany. Yes, this is the grape responsible for your favorite Chianti. The "Supertuscan Blend" wines also contain sangiovese blended with Bordeaux varietals.
Nebbiolo - A red wine grape grown in the Piedmont region. This grape is known for its ability to be aged for many years.
Corvina - One of the main grapes of the Veneto region of Italy. These grapes are used in the production of Amarone and Valpolicella wines.
Trebbiano - This white wine grape is the most planted grape in the country and is grown throughout.
Pinot Grigio - Very popular grape also known as Pino Gris. Just like Syrah and Shiraz Grape is called Pinot Gris if it is from France.
Malvasia Bianca - Another grape that is grown throughout the country. Wines are said to have a wide range of flavors.
