Other German Wines | Prices, Types & Reviews

Written By: Brian Freedman on Wed, Jan 24th 2007

From the far western wine regions abutting France's Alsace to the eastern region of Sachsen, on the Elbe River, Germany is one of the most exciting countries in the world in terms of its wine production. This is quite an accomplishment considering how much of Germany's wine fame is the result of a single grape: The noble and beloved Riesling. And while there are certainly many other grapes that are grown in this country, none of them has the caché, or indeed the panache and elegance, of this one. So exploring the various wine regions of Germany, even if they are unfamiliar, is always an exercise in all the sensual pleasures great and very good wine can bring.
