White wines, like their red counterparts, can be made in a wide variety of styles and at every price point on the continuum, from inexpensive table wines to moderately priced New World Chardonnays to super-expensive white Burgundies and Sauternes. And as with red wines, price is no guarantee of quality: There are some excellent and inexpensive white wines out there just waiting to be discovered - your job is to find them. Don't worry, Classic Wines is here to help!
Whereas red wines are always made from red grapes, white wines can be made from both white grapes and, as is the case with many Champagnes, red grapes, too. Indeed, the world's most famous bubbly is traditionally a blend of the juice of Chardonnay (a white grape variety) and Pinots Noir and Meunier (red grape varieties). This lends the finished product a certain richness that it otherwise may not have had. And this, really, is the case with the entire spectrum of white wines: They will surprise and delight you, and, in the end, reward your senses in ways you may never have imagined.
