Russian River Valley

This is one of the most exciting places in California these days for Burgundian varietals, and the instantly recognizable Pinot Noir and Chardonnays coming out of Russian River are some of the best that California has to offer. It all has to do with the magic of that river, whose fog blankets the vineyards in the evening and morning, cools the fruit on the vines, and provides that fabulous sense of freshness that the best wines typically exhibit. Producers to look for include Simi, Dutton Goldfield, Hartford Court, Kosta Browne, and Gary Farrell, among others.
