Torres "Emblema"

This blend of garnacha, syrah, and cabernet sauvignon exhibits a deep, impressively concentrated color, an almost inky black at the center that lightens up to ruby. The nose comes off a bit hot, but not distractingly so. Once you get beneath that, there’s an entire world hiding in there: Crushed, ripe red and black berries, chocolate, a whiff of belt leather, and something almost minty at the end. The wine has great weight on the palate, with deep, dark berry flavors framed by grilled herbs and a pleasant earthiness. It begs for meat, preferably something grilled or otherwise charred, and served with some sort of berry or cherry sauce to bring out the fruit a bit more.
