Nick Gorevic
Nick began working in wine professionally about 1 year ago, but his passion for it dates back several more years. Nick has taken the WSET (Wine and Spirit Educational Trust) intermediate and advanced courses, and is currently enrolled in the American Sommelier Association's viticulture and vinification course. Nick helps reinforce his own education by teaching others about what he's studying, which is what he does at his blog, winescholarship.com.
Nick has also started a business offering educational wine tastings in people's homes in the New York City Tri-State metropolitan area. You can learn more about that at homewineschool.com.
Nick's passion is explaining wine to beginners. He believes very strongly that a lot of very experienced wine educators have forgotten what it's like to be a beginner, and overwhelm their students with a lot of unnecessary information. What matters most to Nick is what you taste in the glass, and being able to explain what you're tasting and what you do or don't like about it. He still remembers what it was like to be starting out and feel totally confused by the inundation of information and unfamiliar vocabulary. He's designed his columns here at Classic Wines to simplify it all and give you tools that will make it possible for you to explain to your waiter or the person working at the wine store exactly what it is that you like or don't like.
