Spaghetti

replace me

The quintessential Italian pasta is spaghetti, but when it comes to pairing it with wine, it's the sauce with which you enjoy it that will determine what kind of wine you drink. Spaghetti with meatballs or sausage, for example, is great with Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Zinfandel, Chianti, Valpolicella, and Nebbiolo (try a Gattinarait's unnecessary to spend the money on a Barolo or a Barbaresco for this kind of pairing, and they're all made from the nebbiolo grape). Spaghetti with a white wine sauce and seafood is great with Pinot Grigio and Soave, among others. Spaghetti Alfredo, or with any other cream-based sauce, is nice with Pinot Grigio, Prosecco (if you want a fizzy change from the ordinary), Soave, and even a Chardonnay whose richness echoes the cream in the sauce. There are so many different options when it comes to pairing wine with spaghetti that your only real limit is your imagination...and what you enjoy most.
