Ethnic Cuisines

So-called ethnic cuisines tend to scare most people away from pairing wine with them. Indian food, for example, is a classic pairing partner for a nice, crisp lager. And Senegalese food, with all its exotic spices and sweet flavors, is gorgeous with a wheat beer. But the foods of these cuisines can also benefit from a smart wine pairing. The trick is to think outside the box, for often, it is the wines that you wouldn't necessarily think of first that will pair best with the most exotic flavors of this kind of food. So from the bright acidity of Austrian gruner veltliner to the slight sweetness of a German spatlese, there are more options out there than you might imagine. It's just a matter of finding them.
