Marche Wines | Prices, Types, & Reviews
This region, located to the east of Tuscany and Umbria, is less well known than it should be, for though its wines are less renowned than those of its western neighbors, they nonetheless can be every bit as appealing. The problem is that the Marches region does not have the same wine-producing history as the other two, and as a result, it has not really taken full advantage of it natural location in Italy. Things are turning around, however: Rosso Piceno, the local blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano, is experiencing a wave of popularity among wine lovers in the United States. And the other indigenous varieties are also staging somewhat of a resurgence. The Marches is a region worth watching in coming years.
