This is the most important wine-producing region in all of Argentina, which has become one of the two most important wine-producing countries in South America (Chile is the other one). In Mendoza, which is located in the west of the country, few grape varieties are as lauded these days as Malbec (though some quite good Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, among others, are also grown).
