Central Otago is the most southerly wine region on the planet, and the cooler temperatures of this South Island region are particularly well-suited to Pinot Noir. There seem to be more and more producers popping up each year, and as the wines from Central Otago become more easily accessible in the United States (though they are available now if you look for them), their reputation for excellence will surely grow. This is a region to keep an eye on in the coming years.
