Petite Sirah Wines | Prices, Types, & Reviews
Despite its name, Petite Sirah is not believed to be related to the variety known as Syrah. However, much like Syrah, Petite Sirah produces a varietal wine that is peppery and full-bodied. Petite Sirah grows particularly well in Mendocino and Sonoma in California.
Though Petite Sirah is often made into an excellent varietal wine, its high level of tannins and firm structure make it perfect for blending. Petite Sirah can be blended with Zinfandel to firm up the sometimes overwhelming fruit, and it can be blended with weak vintages of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon when they need a bit more strength and structure.
