The Pleasure and Pain of Lobster Meat
Written By: Alexandra Perez-Urbina on Tuesday, October 7, 2008
Lobster meat is delicious and succulent...just watch out for tomalley.
Lobster meat... it is delicate, juicy, and highly addicting. Their meat is sweet in flavor and it blends gracefully with almost every single kind of cuisine and flavor on this planet... American or Maine Lobsters have edible meat in both their tail and claws, and they are available alive and whole, as meat (tail and/or claw), or frozen....read more
2003 Wolffer Cabernet Franc
Written By: Michael Zimberg on Tuesday, October 7, 2008
This was a gift from a friend. It is similar to a Loire cab frank with a saline, vegetal streak. It is a low alcohol (12.8% quoted on the bottle), acidic wine with a lot of character, but not enough fruit to support the acids. There's not enough finish to be compelling. It comes off as strange. It is drinkable, but at this price I am expecting...read more

2002 Blankiet Estate Merlot Paradise Hills Vineyard
Written By: Michael Zimberg on Friday, October 3, 2008
Big merlot beast. It drinks more like a shiraz, with concentrated, viscus spicy dark fruits, massive tannins, and a very long finish. It does have some Bordeaux-like features of cigar box on the nose, and a leathery, albeit very smooth mouth feel. It is brimming with personality and charm. There's no subtlety, but everything is in its correct...read more

Rodenstock on the Run
Written By: Kasey Carpenter on Thursday, October 2, 2008
This case of bottle fraud is heating up.
Unless you have been living under a rock in the wine world, you no doubt are familiar with the infamous Jefferson bottles that are the subject of a best-selling book by author Benjamin Wallace, not one, but two movies in development, and some real life courtroom drama that Hollywood only wishes it could produce. Well the saga continues. One...read more

2005 Novy Syrah Parsons' Vineyard
Written By: Michael Zimberg on Thursday, October 2, 2008
Nicely done. Dark crushed purple. Smoky stewed meet and ripe plums make up the compelling nose. Jucy and smooth, this wine has a real stature and poise. Also a good hint of crushed black pepper. There's a long finish with some smooth tannins. Retail is $30, but I do not see it for sale, anywhere. My brother offered this to me from their mailing...read more
