About

"Tasting Notes:Aromatics of freshly crushed blackberries mingle with darkcurrants against a cedar and mineral essence backdrop.Characteristics found in the nose are mirrored in the flavors along with hints of spice and cocoa. As the wine opens, the lush mouthfeel reveals a firm structure of softening tannins, fine acidity and well-integrated oak.The Bradford Mountain terroir lends finesse and the signature minerality to this Cabernet, creating a wine with elegance and powera rare combination.Vineyard:Bradford Mountain Estate Vineyard, on the western edgeof the Dry Creek Valley is where Fred and Kathleen liveand raised their children, and where Fred planted his firstvineyard in Dry Creek in 1983. The vineyard is located justsouth of Bradford Peak at 1,000 ft. elevation with the perfect southwest exposure. The Cabernet Sauvignon clone planted is the "La Cuesta" selection that was planted in Woodside, California by Dr. Rixford in the 1880's from cuttings taken from Ch. Margaux. The Petit Verdot selection goes back to the long abandoned Jackson Field Station in the Sierra Foothills planted in the 1880's by Eugene Hilgard, the first U.C. Viticulture & Enology professor. The well-drained, red clay soil of Bradford Mountain combined with sunny days and cool nights produce small, intensely flavored grapes.Fred's Vintaged View:This is our most terroir-driven winea Peterson winethat shouts out its origins with every sip. The BradfordMountain vineyards produce wine grapes with a uniqueand very recognizable minerality, and that expression ofplace reaches its apex in the Bradford Mountain VineyardCabernet Sauvignon. The intensity of the Cabernet Sauvignon is complementedwith exotic fruit and wonderful aromatics from PetiteVerdot to create a wine that offers layer upon layer of flavors and aromas. Though big and bold, this is still a wine with balance and finesse. It is not one of those over-oaked, over-extracted and high-alcohol creations that are currently the rage with some wine critics, yet have no place on the table, nor the potential for successful bottle aging. This is a wine that will definitely benefit from both bottle age and/or decanting to allow the wine to open and reveal all of its depth and complexity.Technical Data:Composition: 100% Bradford Mountain VineyardVarietal Breakdown: Harvest Dates:95% Cabernet Sauvignon Sept. 23, 20045% Petite Verdot Sept. 23, 2004(A co-fermented field blend)Appellation: Bradford Mountain VineyardDry Creek Valley, Sonoma CountyAlcohol: 13.9%pH: 3.47TA: 0.6g/100mlBarrel Aging: 18 monthsType of Oak: 50% new Bordeaux oak barrels50% 2-3 year-old French oakBottling Date: June 16, 2006Production: 350 cases (750ml)/40 cases (375ml)Release Date: February 2008"

From the Producer

As they say, there's just something about mountain air.
Grist Vineyard, perched over twelve hundred feet above the Dry Creek Valley floor, is where Bradford Mountain Winery calls home. The terroir of this sought-after location displays itself in low-yielding crops of intensely flavored grapes that brandish their mountain characteristics with wild, brambly intensity.

From high upon our mountain plateau, we create limited-production, hand-crafted Zinfandel and Syrah from organic, sustainably-farmed vineyards. The mountain atmosphere mixes with the coastal air of the region for an exceptionally long growing season—which leads to exceptionally bold flavors and complex tannins. Rugged, red volcanic soil helps add texture and earthiness to the mix. This rare combination is what makes Bradford Mountain wines equally hard to come by and hard to forget.
