Napa Valley 2006 cabernet blend (29 cru 92ptsrp)
Description:
"2006 Vineyard 29 'Cru' Cabernet Blend Napa Valley92ptsRP "The 2006 Cru is cut from the same mould as the 2005, but softer, in a sexy, seductive, up-front style of Cabernet Sauvignon that is medium to full-bodied, classic Napa with cedar, black currant, smoke, and licorice. It should drink well for 10+ years."Cru is made from six vineyards specifically selected from all across the Napa Valley. This stellar fruit then follows the same vinification process as all the wines in Vineyards 29s portfolio from meticulous hand sorting to gentle processing in the state of the art, full gravity flow winery. All of this careful attention results in a classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.Opening with ripe dark fruit this wine gives way to toasty vanilla and creamy caramel notes. On the palate ripe raspberries, cassis, roasted coffee and dried flowers are blended with plenty of earth and spice. The intense structure of this wine is surrounded by round, lively tannins giving it a lush and supple mouth feel with a core to stand up to 10-15 years in the cellar.winemaker, Philippe Melka: named by Robert Parker as one of nine top consultants of the world. He combines French training and technique with top California fruit to great effect. Philippe is one of the most sought after winemakers and viticulturalists in California. His extended family of wineries represents a diverse range of vineyard sites and soil types, from cool-climate, shallow, volcanic soils to deep, rich, warm-microclimate clay. Philippe's wines express the voice of the soil as much as that of the winemaker."
